Chances are you and your organization are in the midst of significant, fundamental change - or you very soon will be.

Today changes affect industry, government, non-profits… No one is immune. Not even traditionally old-fashioned, conservative industries - like banking and electric utilities - are undergoing the most revolutionary changes in their histories.

Even health care… Even the armed forces… Everywhere people are swept in a great tide of profound and fundamental change; it touches everyone and every thing in our society. Change is so pervasive, in fact, it is often said that the only constant in life is change itself.

And you would think with so much practice, people would be pretty good at change.

But it isn’t so.

Study after study shows on average organizations can expect about a 15% chance for success in any significant change initiative they undertake.

Fifteen percent! That’s worse than the roll of a die!

Every day people bet their jobs… their careers… on new strategies, new directions, new technology… new everything.

And sadly, for the vast majority of them, it’s nothing but a crap shoot.

Let me ask you something:

  • Are you willing to accept 7-to-1 odds against your success?
  • Are you willing bet your career - your livelihood - on these kind of odds?

Well, the good news is you don’t have to.

Hundreds of man-years of change management experience and wisdom have been distilled into a proprietary formula that smart decision-makers in a wide variety of industries have been using to win the change game for over two decades.

It’s a process that’s so effective - it’s even patented.

And now we are offering it to you - absolutely free in our online Change Management Library.

Free Access to Change Management Library

My husband and I just got a $30 gift card to a local eatery for Christmas. We went to get takeout tonight and called and the person that answered the phone said that the restaurant management changed hands and they are not taking the gift cards. Every other business that has changed hands has always accepted the old business's gift card up to a certain time. Do we just have to suck up the loss of $30 or is there something we can do?

If all that happened was a change of management, it seems unethical to me that they should not recognize your gift card. After all, somebody paid 30 dollars to that business and the business got the liability. That doesn't go away just because they change management. I'd complain to the Better Business Bureau if they won't accept it after you go in and have a talk with a manager. That's wrong of them.

A Conversation

St. Benedict (c.480-547) wrote a rule book that for fourteen centuries has influenced monastic life throughout the world and continues to guide, spiritually and practically, the Benedictine order. Ampleforth Abbey in Yorkshire has recognized the power of the Rule for guiding life and work in the modern world and has been running courses for business people that explore the value of St. Benedict’s teaching. In this original and inspirational book, the authors share the vision of the Rule on the subjects of leadership, relationships and the management of change and stability.Managing people starts with the ability to recognize and value difference. Businesses can best flourish in the long term by being formed as communities based on respect, trust and support. Clear and imaginative leadership is the key. The Rule provides a range of roles that the Abbot as leader adopts such as Exemplar, Shepherd, Healer and Steward. Leaders and managers can learn that the embodiment of virtues such as mercy, prudence and discretion can have a great and powerful influence in their organizations. Benedict’s vision of a community is one where the skills and gifts of people are properly recognized and given their full opportunity to be realised for the benefit of all. However central to the Rule is Benedict’s thoroughgoing realism about people’s propensity not only for doing wrong but for getting things wrong. How companies act in these situations is perhaps the true test of their ability to thrive in the long-term.Managing permanent, rapid change is the ultimate task for business from now on. The Rule of St. Benedict has been helping the Benedictines to successfully enable and manage change for over athousand years. The Rule’s stress on realism, vision and perseverance in the context of strong communities provides businesses large and small with a way forward to survival and success.

I'm currently attending a JC and in the process of transferring to university. I have already turn in my application and transcript and they are currently being review by the university of my choice.

I'm 99% sure that I will get accepted however, the problem is I want to change Major from Business Admin Accounting to Business Admin Management. On my application, I put down Accountant as the major that I intended to go into and Management as the Alternative major.

So anyway, is there a way so that I can change Management to my primary major and accounting as the alternative one ??? Or am I pretty much screw and going to have to stuck with accounting for my first semester at the university ???

Wait until after you have been accepted and then talk to your adviser at the new school. S/he will be able to change your major. Additionally, there must be some classes that overlap the accounting and management major. Maybe for you first semester you could take a few of those classes.

Good luck!
